Week One in the books…

So for the last week Tara, Murphy and I have been visiting friends as the first leg of our trip. We wanted to bring everyone up to speed now that the dust has settled.

Upstate NY – Our first stop was in NY to see the Dugan/Stenzel clan. One thing I hadn’t really thought about until we got there was the fact that I was going to have to actually back the camper into a driveway… something that I hadn’t tried yet… after a few attempts and some encouragement… the camper was parked… or was at least close. We spent the rest of the night enjoying good food, good company and an incredibly comfortable place to sleep. Then we headed out and headed for Niagara Falls and spent the night camping on Lake Eerie…

Cuyahoga Valley… well… not too much to talk about there… the old Cuyahoga falls was more like the Cuyahoga rock wall… Straight on to Columbus, OH. Columbus was great, we stopped to see our friends Kevin and Nicole who showed us a great time in Columbus and treated us to a great dinner. (we really made out with some great dinners in the first leg of our trip) They also brought us through the Short North area where we spent some time the following day. Columbus is a pretty cool city with a vibe a lot like Austin, TX… just a smaller version. Now on to Indiana…

Winchestertonfieldville, Indiana (it’s actually Chesterton, but I exaggerate)… We stopped to see our friends the Masi’s Bob and Katie, along with Sam and Amelia and Tucker, their pup. Um… This will be a tough one to get all in here without being super drawn out… stream of consciousness writing… GO… lot of time spent under the Shasta working on the lights, raised stock value of Lagunitas and Miller Lite, Indiana Dunes State Park, I ate my weight at Peggy Sue’s, Gun control arguments, best burgers at the Octave Grill, I’m too old to stay up until 3am, Milton never smiles… for serious,the birth of the Chesterton BB Gun Club…
