Black Hills, SD

I’ll hit the Black Hills quickly here, because that’s exactly what we did.

We drove from the Badlands west to the Black Hills. In the Black Hills we saw Mt. Rushmore (but didn’t really stop), We drove over to the the Crazy Horse monument (which is still in construction and looks like it should be finished just around never)… this was actually a mistake and I, yes I, regret the decision to pay $22 to look at this… not that it’s not impressive, I just thought you’d be able to get a lot closer… I was a little disappointed.(Tara also agreed this was a bust)

We spent the afternoon at Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park in the Blackhills.

From here we drove north to Deadwood. Yes, Deadwood like the HBO series, only now, everything is a casino. Mike’s Ice Cream and Casino, Gas and Casino, Deadwood visitor center and Casino. It wasn’t that bad though. There the bar where Wild Bill was shot, and about 100ft down the street is the bar where the man who shot him was captured (real fugitive that guy). We grabbed lunch at Mustang Sally’s and shortly after witnessed a shootout in the street. Here’s some advice, if your dog doesn’t like fireworks, he’s going to hate a shoot out. Murphy still isn’t talking to us… Tara agrees, this may have not been a great idea either… You can’t win them all.

That was it… On to Wyoming. Only 7 hours and 49 minutes away.
